*rubbing sleep out of my eyes*
It’s 4.52am.
The house is quiet. Everyone’s asleep. Ahead of me is an 8-hour 1,000 km journey involving taxis, planes, airport lounges, fast food, security checks, a bus and finally a train before I arrive in Örebro for the beer festival.
Time to make sure I’ve got everything:
Suitcase (that’s unfeasibly large for a two day trip so that I can fill it with bottles of beer for the journey back) – check.
Camera (so I can take dozens of pictures of beer/bottles of beer/glasses/glasses with beer in them/people pouring beer into glasses, which I will eventually only use two of) – check.
Clean pants, socks, a trendy shirt and a toothbrush – check
Lack of a Geeky Beer T-shirt (point six) – check
Sense of humour – far too early for that.
I’ll be posting live from the festival this afternoon so check back if you can for updates.
Let the madness begin……
UPDATE: 13.28:
1,000 km later I’ve just arrived. Checked in and reeved up. Thinking of going straight for the Kaggens Stormaktsporter and Swedish Oak on the Närkes stand and then it’s free-wheeling from then on. Feeling the beer geek in me bursting to get out……

Hell yeah! Finally time for another beer festival. It’s been way to long since SMÖF. Cya there Darren.
I’ll be going tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll see you there!
