This is a new kind of blog for a new kind of BeerSweden.

Since moving here in 2000 I’ve seen the availability, choice and quality of beers on offer grow beyond recognition. These are exciting times for Swedish beer drinkers, who can now not only easily enjoy many of the world’s finest imported brands but can also feel rightfully proud of some exciting beers being brewed right here in Sweden.  

As demand for great tasting beers increases so does the need to tell people more about them. That’s where I hope this blog will come in, providing a place people can come, hang out for a while and catch up on the latest developments in the Swedish beer scene.

After almost 16 years working in the drinks industry I’ve also come to realise what I love most about beer are the characters that brew, promote and drink it. It never ceases to amaze me how much passion, knowledge and crazed determination these people have in their quest to get people drinking beer.

As a beer industry ‘insider’ I want BeerSweden regulars to get the chance to ‘meet’ these people too, and that’s another reason I’m writing this blog.

I’ll be trying to get a slightly different angle on the beer scene in Sweden from the inside out, talking directly with brewers and importers to get the latest unfiltered, unpasteurised news and gossip. I’ll also be exploring the most popular beer styles, reviewing new beers coming to the Systembolaget and revisiting a few old favourites.

I hope you enjoy the blog and it provokes you to post a comment or two. Oh and feel free to comment in either English or Swedish – I could do with the practise!
