I’m a former news journalist, copywriter and PR consultant who started writing about beer in the UK in the mid-90s as a media consultant for British brewery Shepherd Neame.
I was comfortably on my way to my ambition of a job with long lunches and a company BMW when I met Sara, a breathtaking vision of Scandinavian blondness who somehow managed to persuade me to move to Umeå at the top of Europe when it had always been my ambition to live at the bottom of it.
That was back in 2000. Since then I’ve worked almost full-time within the international beer industry, firstly as export manager for Shepherd Neame and in recent years as a beer consultant and brand ambassador.
Along the way I’ve met some amazing people, been to lots of breweries, drunk some incredible beers, given hundreds of beer talks and am particularly proud of my unbroken record of never having made it down for breakfast at any of the hotels I’ve ever stayed in.
BeerSweden is a chance for me to combine the two things I really enjoy in life – writing and beer. I hope via this blog you’ll get to see just what an amazing drink beer really is. If you disagree with me that’s OK too – I live in the far north of Sweden, so the chances of you finding me are very small indeed.
